for joining us. here's what's happening right now in the cnn newsroom. >>> a funeral going on this afternoon for an alabama school bus driver, who was killed when he tried to protect the kids on his bus when a gunman came on board. all the children made it off safely except for one 5-year-old boy who has been kidnapped and held in a bunker for five days now. >> this guy found himself in extraordinary circumstances, he's being laid to rest today. how is he being remembered there? >> people around here know him as chuck. we saw hundreds of people come together at the civic center, because they had to find a bigger venue for all the people who showed up today. members of the military who were there. again honored as people filed into the room. and we even saw school buses that brought faculty and students. people remember him as a father, a husband, who always had a smile on his face. this bus driver who lost his life to protect the students on board his bus. one of his friends said this is a person who did not want to be remembered as a hero. never sought that sort of recognition. but today, h
